The Sharon Public Library Board of Trustees held a meeting on April 14, 2022 at 5:oo P.M. at the Sharon Public Library. Sharon Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting
Attendance: Melissa Edwards, Wanda Hamlin, Mary Ellen Harris, Candace Hogan, Colton Nanney, William Witherington, Deena Smith, Don Farmer-regional board chair Minutes from the last board meeting were reviewed and a motion by Mary Ellen Harris was made to accept the minutes with a second by William Witherington. All in favor. Librarian’s Report: Deena spoke to the board about a new circulation software that she was interested in. The Atrium Classic would be a great asset to the library and the community. The new software will show the AR point on children’s books which will help the school children during the school year. She also informed them of the cost. The initial cost for installation was $2,390 and $1,231 per year which is only $5 more a year than Verso, the system the library used at this time. She also informed them of the fundraising abilities with Atrium. It has ten spots for local businesses to be able to sponsor a library program and receive one of the advertising spots on Atrium. Deena was very excited about the new software. Mr. Don Farmer from the Regional Board was in attendance and informed the board that Mildred G. Fields library in Milan also uses Atrium. A motion was made by Mary Ellen Harris to purchase the software with a second made by William Witherington with all in favor. Mr. Don Farmer-regional board chair- attended the meeting and wanted to let the library board members know that he greatly appreciated them and thanked them for supporting the library. The Regional Library Board would be disbanded as of June 30, 2022. The library board chairs from each library would now make up the board for the region. Old business: names submitted for the new board members were: Donna Smrekar, Paula Brewer, and Gloria Wright. A new service desk was purchased and was installed and the city wide yard sale fundraiser was discussed. New business: Donna Smrekar, Paula Brewer, and Gloria Wright were accepted as new board members. A motion was made by William Witherington to accept the new board members and a second was made by Melissa Edwards with all in favor. City Wide Yard Sale/Book Sale Fundraiser was discussed. Deena informed the board that her husband, Jamie Smith would cook BBQ sandwiches for a fundraiser. There would be a sandwich, chips, and a drink for $7. The library board made the decision to close the library on Saturdays of a weekend holiday. This is something that is recognized by the state. A motion was made by Mary Ellen Harris to close the library on a holiday weekend and a second made by Wanda Hamlin with all in favor. Candance Hogan is to be the new library board chair. Meeting was called to adjourn at 6 pm. Next board meeting is May 12, 2022 at 5 pm.
